2. About Reading Rocks

Reading Rocks supplies educational resources, including digital summaries, workbooks, practice material, tests, memorandums, revision material, projects, literature resources and other educational products.

Where a product is described as CAPS- or ATP-aligned, this refers to the curriculum content or planning framework applicable to that particular product.

Reading Rocks is an independent educational-material provider. Unless expressly stated otherwise, Reading Rocks is not an official publication of, and is not endorsed by, the Department of Basic Education or any provincial education department.

3. Digital products

Unless a product page expressly states otherwise, Reading Rocks products sold through this website are digital products.

No physical item will be delivered or couriered.

The product description will indicate the format and principal contents of the product before purchase.

Customers are responsible for confirming that they have:

  • selected the correct grade;
  • selected the correct subject;
  • selected the correct language;
  • selected the correct term or product;
  • access to a suitable device;
  • software capable of opening the relevant file format, normally PDF.

4. Prices

Prices displayed on readingrocks.co.za are stated in South African rand (ZAR) unless otherwise indicated.

The price displayed at checkout is the price payable for the order, subject to correction of an obvious technical or pricing error.

Any applicable taxes will be dealt with in accordance with Reading Rocks’ legal obligations.

There are no delivery or courier charges for products supplied entirely by digital download.

5. Orders

An order is submitted when the customer completes the checkout process and selects Place Order or the equivalent checkout command.

Reading Rocks may refuse or cancel an order where reasonably necessary, including where:

  • payment has failed;
  • a transaction appears fraudulent or unauthorised;
  • an obvious pricing or technical error has occurred;
  • a product has been incorrectly listed;
  • the transaction cannot legally be completed.

If Reading Rocks cancels an order after valid payment has been received and the customer is entitled to reimbursement, the appropriate refund will be processed.

6. Payment

Online payments are processed using Payfast or another payment method expressly shown at checkout.

Payment must be successfully authorised before access to a paid digital product is granted.

Reading Rocks does not require customers to provide their complete bank-card details directly to Reading Rocks when payment is processed through Payfast.

Payment processing is also subject to the payment provider’s applicable terms and security procedures.

7. Digital delivery

After successful payment confirmation, access to the purchased digital product will normally be made available:

  • through the order-confirmation process;
  • through a download link sent by email;
  • through the customer’s My Account → Downloads area where applicable.

Digital delivery may occasionally be delayed by:

  • payment-verification delays;
  • incorrect customer email addresses;
  • spam filtering;
  • internet or hosting interruptions;
  • technical problems outside Reading Rocks’ reasonable control.

If payment has been confirmed but a download is not available, contact:

orders@readingrocks.co.za

and include the order number.

8. Customer responsibility for email details

Customers are responsible for supplying a valid and correctly spelled email address during checkout.

Reading Rocks is not responsible for a download email failing to arrive because the customer supplied an incorrect email address, although reasonable assistance will be provided once the customer contacts us and the order can be verified.

Customers should also check their spam or junk-mail folder.

9. Licence to use Reading Rocks products

Purchasing a Reading Rocks product does not transfer ownership of the copyright in that product.

Unless a different licence is expressly stated on the product page, the purchaser receives a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the material for lawful personal or educational purposes.

A purchaser may:

  • download and retain their lawful purchased copy;
  • print a reasonable copy for the permitted user’s own use;
  • use the material for personal study or revision;
  • use the material as part of individual tutoring or teaching preparation.

Unless expressly permitted by Reading Rocks, a purchaser may not:

  • upload the PDF to WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google Drive or another sharing platform for distribution;
  • email or distribute copies to other parents, learners, teachers or customers;
  • resell the material;
  • sell printed copies;
  • upload the material to another website;
  • place it in a shared school or class drive;
  • remove Reading Rocks branding or copyright notices;
  • claim the material as their own;
  • alter the material and sell or distribute the altered version;
  • use the material to create a competing commercial product.

A teacher or tutor may use a purchased product for their own preparation and may refer to it while teaching. Purchase of a standard individual product does not, by itself, grant permission to distribute copies of the product to an entire class or multiple unrelated learners.

Where broader classroom, school or institutional use is required, Reading Rocks may offer an appropriate licence or bundle separately.

10. Copyright and intellectual property

Unless otherwise indicated, the original Reading Rocks layout, compilation, written material, graphics, branding and educational resources are protected by applicable intellectual-property law.

Reading Rocks branding, logos and original product presentation may not be reproduced or used commercially without permission.

Third-party names, textbook names, curriculum references and other third-party intellectual property remain the property of their respective owners.

11. Unauthorised sharing

Digital products are priced on the basis that each purchase is used within the licence supplied with that product.

Unauthorised copying, resale or mass distribution harms Reading Rocks and its ability to continue developing affordable educational material.

Reading Rocks reserves the right, where reasonably justified, to:

  • revoke download access;
  • suspend a customer account;
  • refuse further sales;
  • take appropriate action to protect its intellectual property,

where there is credible evidence of deliberate unauthorised resale, redistribution or infringement.

Nothing in this clause removes any right a customer has under applicable law.

12. Refunds and cancellations

Because Reading Rocks supplies downloadable digital products, the ability to return a product is different from the return of a physical item.

A customer is generally not entitled to a refund merely because they:

  • changed their mind after obtaining access to the digital product;
  • purchased the wrong grade, subject, language or term despite the product being correctly described;
  • no longer require the material;
  • found similar material elsewhere.

However, Reading Rocks will consider and, where legally required, provide an appropriate remedy where, for example:

  • the customer was charged more than once for the same transaction;
  • payment was taken but the purchased product cannot be supplied;
  • the incorrect file was supplied;
  • the file is materially defective or unusable;
  • the product materially differs from its advertised description;
  • applicable South African law gives the customer a right to cancellation, refund or other remedy.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit a consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

The detailed rules are set out in the separate Refund Policy available on readingrocks.co.za.

This cautious wording is deliberate: South African consumer and electronic-transaction legislation provides statutory remedies and cooling-off rules in certain circumstances, so a blanket “no refunds under any circumstances” clause would be inappropriate.

13. Product descriptions and educational accuracy

Reading Rocks takes reasonable care to provide clear product descriptions and accurate educational material.

Educational curricula, annual teaching plans, assessment requirements and official guidance can change.

Customers should therefore check the grade, subject, term and description shown on the specific product page.

If a material factual error is identified in a Reading Rocks product, customers are encouraged to contact:

info@readingrocks.co.za

so that the matter can be investigated.

14. Educational outcomes

Reading Rocks educational resources are designed to support learning, revision and preparation.

Reading Rocks does not guarantee:

  • a particular mark;
  • a pass;
  • admission to a school or institution;
  • any specific academic outcome.

Performance depends on many factors, including the learner’s own study, instruction, assessment and circumstances.

15. Third-party textbooks and resources

A Reading Rocks product may, where lawfully appropriate, be designed to complement a particular curriculum, prescribed work, textbook approach or assessment scope.

Mention of a third-party textbook, publisher, school, examination body or other organisation does not imply ownership, sponsorship or endorsement unless expressly stated.

Customers remain responsible for using any prescribed textbook or official source required by their school.

16. Customer accounts

Customers may be permitted to purchase as guests or create an account.

Customers are responsible for:

  • keeping their password secure;
  • preventing unauthorised use of their account;
  • providing accurate account information.

Reading Rocks may suspend an account where reasonably necessary to address suspected fraud, abuse, security risks or serious violations of these Terms.

17. Website availability

Reading Rocks will take reasonable steps to keep readingrocks.co.za operational.

However, uninterrupted access cannot be guaranteed.

The website may temporarily be unavailable because of:

  • maintenance;
  • software updates;
  • hosting problems;
  • internet outages;
  • payment-provider outages;
  • security incidents;
  • circumstances outside Reading Rocks’ reasonable control.

Where a customer has paid for a product but a temporary technical problem prevents access, Reading Rocks will provide reasonable assistance to restore lawful access.

18. Customer support

For general assistance:

info@readingrocks.co.za

For orders and downloads:

orders@readingrocks.co.za

When contacting Reading Rocks about an order, customers should provide their order number where available.

19. Privacy

Personal information is handled in accordance with the Reading Rocks Privacy Policy and applicable South African law.

By using the website, customers acknowledge that certain information must be processed to operate the store, process payment, administer orders and supply digital downloads.

20. Changes to products

Reading Rocks may periodically correct, update or improve digital products.

A later edition or updated version does not automatically entitle a purchaser of an earlier version to every future version unless the particular product or offer states otherwise.

21. Promotions and discount codes

Promotional offers, bundles and discount codes:

  • may have specified start and end dates;
  • may apply only to selected products;
  • may not be combined unless expressly permitted;
  • may be subject to reasonable purchase conditions.

Reading Rocks may withdraw or correct a promotion affected by an obvious technical or pricing error, subject to applicable consumer law.

22. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Reading Rocks will not be responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising solely from:

  • incompatible customer software or devices;
  • loss of a customer’s downloaded copy;
  • failure to follow product instructions;
  • third-party service outages;
  • unauthorised use of a customer’s account.

This clause does not exclude liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under South African law.

23. Governing law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

Nothing in these Terms prevents a consumer from exercising rights or remedies available under applicable South African consumer-protection legislation.

24. Complaints and disputes

Reading Rocks encourages customers to contact us first so that complaints can be addressed promptly.

Email:

info@readingrocks.co.za

If a consumer dispute cannot be resolved directly, the customer may use any complaint or dispute-resolution mechanism available under applicable South African law, including approaching the appropriate consumer-protection authority where applicable.

25. Changes to these Terms

Reading Rocks may update these Terms & Conditions where reasonably necessary, including when:

  • the website changes;
  • new products or services are introduced;
  • payment methods change;
  • applicable law changes.

The latest version will be displayed on readingrocks.co.za with its effective date.

Terms applicable to a completed transaction remain subject to the law and the terms applicable to that transaction.

26. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to operate to the extent permitted by law.
